What kind of country would throw a guy in prison for a year for making a stupid Youtube video? Oh, OUR kind of country. Never mind.
Egyptian-American Nakoula Basseley Nakoula spent a year in an American prison for using the Internet without first asking the U.S. government’s permission—a violation of his parole for an earlier crime.
Because it was necessary to imprison Nakoula to deflect attention from a terrorist attack against the U.S. before an election, however, many were cool with his jailing. Anyway, back to criticizing what the UAE is doing to American citizens making silly Youtube videos:
